This quote really made me stop and think for a moment! We are so focused on past experiences, hurts, regrets and failures. The more we think about them, the more we dwell in the past. This really does not allow you to move forward making new experiences. If you cling on to the past and keep on using it as an excuse of why you aren’t moving on with your life, your future will be very similar to your past.
What can we do to change our habit of holding on?
Watch your thoughts, attitude and behaviour. You are the only one who can control them. You can train your mind to be in the moment, by merely focusing on your breath. This mindful way of being will help you to control your thoughts, similar to taking a walk with a dog on a leash. You have to rope in your thoughts, get back on track in the moment and choose an attitude of gratitude for all the experiences that have brought you to this moment in time.
You are in control of your own life ~ painting your own picture. Choose wisely and make it a masterpiece!
